Countdown
In 1506, a ship was caught in a violent storm off the Dorset coast and was forced to seek shelter in Weymouth Bay. Aboard were two distinguished travellers - Archduke Philip and Joanna of Castile, the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella. They had set sail from Middleburg in the Low Countries on 30 January and their escort of ships had been dispersed by bad weather. The royal couple were therefore relieved to find refuge in the Dorset Haven.
